Equivalent

When presenting results, the functional units need to be compared against a benchmark. In order to compare alternates, one needs to create a measureable metric. The measurable metric is called equivalent use.
Examples:

• Cellular Phone: For comparison, one can use number of hours of communication between charges as equivalent use.
• Light Bulb: The total cost to light a specified area for 5 years (operating 8 hours each weekday and 6 hours on each weekend) at a minimum of 800 lumen* (Light intensity) is another example of equivalent use.
